A premier South Florida hospitality property is seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Facilities Engineering to lead all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations across a large luxury beachfront property.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, property appearance, safety, and reliability. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who enjoys being actively involved in daily operations, developing teams, managing contractors, and overseeing capital improvement projects.

This role requires someone who can effectively balance strategic planning with hands-on execution while managing multiple competing priorities across a complex operation.

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Facility Operations
  • Direct all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations across the property
  • Ensure all guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, meeting areas, recreational facilities, and back-of-house operations are maintained to the highest standards
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and reliability
  • Manage facility infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, life safety systems, generators, pumps, lighting, controls, and building automation systems
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues proactively and ensure corrective action is completed promptly
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead a department of 12 direct reports, including an Engineering Manager and Engineering Coordinator, plus agency personnel
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management for engineering staff
  • Delegate work effectively while establishing accountability for performance and results
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, professionalism, and service excellence
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, work assignments, and departmental operations
  • Oversee capital improvement and renovation projects from planning through completion
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with general contractors, consultants, vendors, and service providers
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to quality expectations
  • Review project budgets, invoices, change orders, and cost controls
  • Coordinate project activities with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, life safety regulations, fire codes, and applicable local building codes
  • Ensure departmental safety training and compliance initiatives are implemented and documented
  • Manage emergency response procedures and support business continuity efforts
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspections, logs, and documentation
  • Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets
  • Monitor labor expenses, vendor costs, project expenditures, and operational efficiencies
  • Manage inventories, purchasing, service contracts, and maintenance-related expenses
  • Support energy conservation and cost-reduction initiatives
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of engineering, facilities management, construction management, or related experience
  • Prior leadership experience managing engineering, maintenance, or facilities teams
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems
  • Experience managing contractors, vendor relationships, and capital improvement projects
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial management experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with OSHA regulations, safety programs, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
  • Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hospitality, resort, hotel, luxury residential, condominium, healthcare, university, or large commercial property experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field
