Position: Sales Clerk Leader FT 6733

Sales Clerk Leader – Full‑time, 30‑40 hrs per week at the Coast Guard Exchange in Miami Beach, FL.

Salary: $16.80 per hour.

Duties
  • Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with the selection of merchandise.
  • Respond to customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, helping patrons choose goods or substitute items.
  • Oversee overall operations of the sales department, including order, receipt, pricing, and monitoring of stock levels.
  • Coordinate with store management on price changes, markdowns, promotional sets, and signage.
  • Communicate directly with HQ staff to resolve special order requests or merchandise issues at the store level.
  • Assist the store management team in training employees on all cash‑register and front‑end duties and provide input on employee evaluations.
  • Operate a cash register, accept cash, checks, and credit cards; prepare, verify, and issue change funds; collect cash receipts and related documentation.
  • Compare register tapes with the Daily Activity Report, investigate discrepancies, and prepare cash overage and shortage records.
  • Control and secure change funds, safe, and cash registers.
  • Key carrier for opening and closing the store as required.
  • Supervise other employees and assume overall store responsibility in the absence of management.
  • Follow all policies regarding loss prevention, including awareness of shrink and the Alert Line.
  • Adhere to established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • Work weekends as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales.
  • Minimum: Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds; ability to stand for long periods.

Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  • Experience operating a cash register and working knowledge of sales inventory.
  • Previous retail supervisory experience performing the duties above.
  • Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least six months experience.
