Maintenance Engineer III – Delano Miami Beach
Under the general guidance of the Assistant Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Engineer III is responsible for maintaining and repairing all building equipment, systems, and components—including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment—and ensuring the safe operation of hotel swimming pools.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance, including repairs and upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house equipment.
- Inspect and test machinery and equipment, diagnosing issues and preventing breakdowns.
- Repair and replace defective machinery parts promptly.
- Maintain the physical structure of the hotel, including walls, floors, doors, and windows.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and systems and document all activities in maintenance logs.
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment to support uninterrupted food service operations.
- Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests and ensure high satisfaction.
- Communicate with maintenance supervisors and management about projects, repairs, and safety issues.
- Participate in safety training sessions and follow all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
- Respond quickly to emergencies such as fires and power outages to protect guests, staff, and property.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support maintenance and hotel operations.
- Provide lateral service in the hospitality industry as required.
- Perform related tasks on a routine basis in the spirit of exceptional guest service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years hands‑on experience in building maintenance or engineering in a hotel, resort or similar environment.
- Knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and mechanical repairs.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, motors, pumps, and HVAC equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with preventive maintenance procedures and maintenance logs.
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards and proper PPE use.
- Skilled with hand and power tools required for maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem‑solving skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills; coordinate with supervisors, vendors, and departments.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Physically capable of manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Basic computer skills for logging work and managing work orders.
- All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well‑groomed appearance; uniform guidelines provided by supervisor.
