We’re now offering a $3,000 sign‑on bonus for all new employees hired into this role between May 7, 2026 and November 7, 2026. Pays in $1000 increments at the end of 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days of employment.
Hourly Wage
ISS offers full‑time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The hourly pay range for this position is $37.46 per hour – $55.98 per hour.
Work Hours
The work hours for this position may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
The Building Engineer is responsible for operation, replacement, repair and maintenance of building related mechanical, electrical, control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion joints, and other building mechanical systems. Work involves the lifting of heavy mechanical equipment and apparatus, and may be performed in areas of extreme heat, cold, and/or noise. Receives and responds to service calls, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns.
Ensures all preventive maintenance is completed and necessary repairs are always made. Ensures that work area/plant is always clean, safe, and that managed/generated utilities meet delivery specifications. Oversees contractors, routine and preventive maintenance work to ensure work is performed appropriately and in a safe manner. Communicates with ISS and Customer operations management teams, tenants/utility system end users, and Business Unit Stakeholders.
The Building Engineer requires a Journeyman Craftsman skillset.
- Understanding and able to troubleshoot office building emergency and fire systems
- Understanding and able to troubleshoot and maintain central plant systems and supporting equipment
- Able to operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Able to troubleshoot/maintain/repair plumbing, Mechanical, minor electrical components/systems
- Able to read Piping & Instrument Drawings (P&IDs), Floor Plans, Site Maps and/or Electrical Diagrams
- Able to produce a quality work product in a prompt, safe and efficient manner
- Ability to work without supervision and appropriately with multiple deadlines
- Maintain a good attendance record, including notification in the event of tardiness and absence
- For internal candidates, must constantly receive a “meets expectations” job performance review
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required
- Works and participates well as a team member
- Communicate well with others; clearly write and speak to clients, superiors, coworkers

- This role requires a valid driver’s license and MVR check as operating a company vehicle is an essential responsibility of this position.
- HS Diploma or greater
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the operation & maintenance of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and/or control systems.
- Experience with customer line of business
- Experience with customer building type(s)
- Required certification in location applicable disciplines, including HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Plumbing, or Automation/Controls – Formal OEM or employer training, Trade School, apprenticeship program, etc., or combination thereof
- Universal EPA Certification (required for HVAC)
- State or recognized AHJ license (required for Electrician)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required
