Director of Accounting
Location: Miami Gardens, FL

Responsible for overseeing the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions of the Company, ensuring compliance with company policies, US GAAP and maintaining internal controls.
Responsibilities- Oversee the general accounting functions including sales and expense recognition, A/R, A/P, payroll, inter‑company accounting, general ledger, cash management, reconciliation, financial statement reporting, balance sheet management, and related tasks.
- Direct and manage the workload of the accounting department, ensuring invoices, expenses, receivables, payrolls and other financial commitments are paid or collected in a timely manner, in accordance with company policies and to maintain credit ratings.
- Ensure existing policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place, developing new ones as needed.
- Coordinate and oversee internal controls documentation, testing and segregation of duties.
- Coordinate work related to internal and external audits, and implement agreed recommendations.
- Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities, including due diligence for acquisitions/dispositions.
- Review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Prepare financial reports in compliance with policies, US GAAP and government reporting requirements.
- Supervise year‑end closing, Federal and State tax reporting (income, property, sales and use, payroll) and other regulatory reports.
- Ensure system operations (computer and procedural) meet expectations; validate or recommend system changes.
- Staff the accounting department with qualified, trained personnel and develop associates.
- Communicate with internal leaders (Operations, Sales, DC, Customer Service).
- Work on special projects as needed.
- Directly manage internal customers:
Controller, General and DC Accountants, Credit Manager, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Daily Balancing personnel.
- BA in Accounting or related field.
- 7+ years of accounting department leadership experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; effective communication in both languages preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, sales tax, payroll and income tax laws; audit principles; accounting/bookkeeping; cash subsidiary ledgers; accounts receivable and payable relationships with the general ledger; financial reporting.
