REPORTS TO:

Chair, Arts and Humanities Division The Instructor of Communications | TV Broadcasting position is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong educational background. The Instructor of Communications | TV Broadcasting shall teach undergraduate-level courses in broadcast journalism, television production, and digital media, with a focus on hands-on instruction in our studio and field environments. This role requires commitment to mentoring students, staying current with industry trends, and producing content for campus media outlets.

This position will report directly to the Chair of the Division of Arts and Humanities.

Essential Functions Teach 4 courses per semester (e.g., Introduction to Mass Media, TV Production, Broadcast Writing). Develop and implement project-based lessons and curricula that align with industry standards.

Mentor students in hands-on studio and field production. Oversee student-led productions, including news broadcasts and live event coverage.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and train students on studio equipment, including cameras, audio systems, lighting, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro).Advise students on career pathways and internship opportunities. Serve on university and department committees.

Produce or facilitate the production of content across multiple platforms (streaming, social media, linear TV).Teach a variety of undergraduate public relations courses. Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.

Contribute to shared governance by serving on committees and participating in other campus activities.

Participate in activities of the Arts and Humanities Division, School of Arts and Sciences, the University, and the community as needed.

Offer both introductory and advanced courses directly related to scheduled instruction, including lecture, laboratory, clinical, performance, and coaching assignments; preparation for instruction; and student assessment activities.

Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional  accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.

Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation.

Advise students in both academic and career fields. Other qualifications include cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or staff populations.

A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential (i.e., Blackboard, Canvas, Power Campus, Jenzabar, Linked In Learning).Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Arts and Humanities division.

The omission of specific duties does not preclude the department head from assigning tasks that logically relate to the position.
