Position Summary:

St. Thomas University seeks highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach doctoral‑level quantitative research courses. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality instruction, mentor doctoral students, and facilitate the development of quantitative research knowledge and statistical analysis skills. Faculty members are expected to foster student success while maintaining academic excellence consistent with the University's mission and values. This aligns with common expectations for graduate research methods faculty, including teaching, timely feedback, student support, and effective use of the learning management system.

Responsibilities
  • Teach doctoral‑level quantitative research and statistics courses in online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face formats.
  • Facilitate student learning using evidence‑based instructional practices.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback on assignments.
  • Maintain regular communication with students through the University's learning management system.
  • Hold virtual office hours and provide academic support as needed.
  • Evaluate student performance in accordance with university grading policies.
  • Submit grades by established deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and course documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure course quality and continuous improvement.
  • Support doctoral students in developing research proposals, selecting appropriate statistical analyses, and interpreting quantitative findings.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., DBA, or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methods and statistical analysis.
  • Experience teaching graduate or doctoral‑level research methodology courses.
  • Experience using statistical software such as SPSS, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience teaching in online learning environments using learning management systems such as Canvas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of graduate‑level teaching experience.
  • Experience chairing or serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Record of scholarly publications.
  • Experience mentoring doctoral students through the dissertation process.
  • Familiarity with APA 7th edition guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of quantitative research methodologies.
  • Ability to explain complex statistical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ethical research practices and academic integrity.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use computers and instructional technology for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and through virtual platforms.
  • Ability to work remotely when assigned to online courses.
