PRESCHOOL TEACHER ASSISTANT - HEAD START PROGRAM NORTH DADE

Position: Head Start Program Preschool Teacher Assistant

When: Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm, 40 hours per week (hours may vary as needed)

Hourly rate of pay: $17.91 per hour

• Assist Head Start classroom teachers with the care and development of children enrolled in the early childhood education center.
• Maintain the classroom environment, ensuring a safe and organized space for learning.
• Plan and support the delivery of developmentally appropriate activities that foster children’s cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and creative skills.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training required by the program.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• FCCPC Birth–Five or CDA childcare certification required; a Certificate of Associate in Early Childhood Education is a definite plus.
• One to two years of experience working with preschool children in a child‑care facility, preferably in a Head Start program.
• DCF 45‑hour childcare training, VPK courses, and 15 hours of continuing education each year (as required).
• Red Cross First Aid certificate; valid health certificate and completed TB test.
• Fingerprint and background check level 2, and drug test required.
