The Assistant Professor of Health Care is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong educational background specifically in more than one area of Health Care. The Assistant Professor of Health Care shall have the primary responsibility of teaching health care courses at the undergraduate level. The Assistant Professor of Health Care position requires experience in the field with a concentration in administration.

This key position shall report to the Chair of the Health and Natural Sciences Department.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Be accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.
  • Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation.
  • Advise students for both academic and career fields.
  • Give individual evaluations of student performance including midterm and final grades.
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty to advance the programs within the Department of Health and Natural Sciences.
  • Represent the department, School, and University at professional meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Assist in the development of additional healthcare curricula/courses/programs.
  • Assist in the development of partnerships with external organizations and entities in order to strengthen the department’s objectives and goals.
  • Assist in serving as a mentor for undergraduate research projects in both health science and health care.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Department of Health and Natural Sciences.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to handle information of a sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Manage, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems (LMS) and computer applications is essential (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Power campus, Jenzabar, Linked In Learning).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Linked In Learning, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD degree in health care or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Higher education experience is preferred.
  • Credentialed in areas of Health Care:
    Human Services;
    Health Disparities;
    Community Health;
    Health Sciences; and Epidemiology (added bonus).
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with Jenzabar Technology Suite for higher education.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends (if applicable).
