Job Title
Reader/Driver (Clerk) – Temp

Position SummaryPart‑time Reader/Driver (Clerk) responsible for providing reading and transportation services to counselors and staff members with visual impairments within the Division of Blind Services.
Duties and Responsibilities- Act as a reader for a counselor.
- Provide transportation for counselors or other staff to community outreach events and client‑related meetings.
- Maintain and operate the state vehicle in compliance with all state guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information in accordance with state employee standards.
- Hold a valid Florida driver’s license with a clear driving record.
- Input work hours into the People First System and complete vehicle logs accurately and promptly.
- Perform light office duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Travel may be required.
- Ability to locate and identify essential information.
- Clear verbal communication skills.
- Active listening and appropriate questioning.
- Basic mathematical aptitude for problem solving.
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and administrative systems.
- Proficiency with basic computer software and applications.
- Planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
- Effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Capability to maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving history.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Availability to work 20–30 hours per week (up to 40 hours as needed).
- Experience chauffeuring or providing driving services (e.g., limousine, taxi, Uber, Lyft).
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
Applicants must complete Level 2 background screening, which includes fingerprinting, state and federal criminal record checks, and local law‑enforcement checks. Hiring will not occur until clearance is received.
