A rapidly expanding healthcare client is looking for a Lead Staff Accountant to take charge of the accounting for 3-4 entities within their portfolio.

The finance and accounting team is highly collaborative and accountable. This role is perfect for a proactive Lead Staff Accountant who values autonomy, ownership, and operates like a 'mini controller' for their portfolio of healthcare practices.
The RoleAs a Lead Staff Accountant, you will manage a portfolio of 3-4 healthcare facilities and serve as the main accounting partner for the operational leaders at these sites. You will be responsible for full-cycle accounting while cultivating strong, trustworthy relationships with practice leaders.
This position reports to an Accounting Manager and functions closely with the VP of Finance. The work environment focuses on results rather than hours logged—
offering high flexibility as long as you deliver your work accurately and on schedule.

- Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for designated facilities
- Act as the primary accounting contact for 3-4 healthcare practices
- Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations comply with GAAP
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including variance explanations
- Assist with consolidations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing issues
- Support payroll processing and handle payroll-related challenges
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Record daily sales and manage cash application
- Maintain purchase order tracking and reconcile invoices
- Oversee revenue schedules and assist with the insurance revenue cycle support
- Assist with annual audits, tax returns, and budget planning
- Update financial models and reporting schedules
- Help shape and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Ensure adherence to professional ethics, confidentiality, and HIPAA regulations
- Foster collaboration across teams and mentor junior team members as required
- Carry out other duties as assigned
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP and month-end closing processes
- Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- High attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in advanced Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication capabilities
- Adept at working independently and taking ownership of tasks
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare accounting or familiarity with HIPAA
- Background in outsourced accounting
, client-facing roles, or managing multiple entities - Knowledge of Managed Service Organization (MSO) structures
- Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments
