Construction, Accounting Manager

Our client, a well-established and growing construction company in Miami, is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager to oversee the company's accounting operations and support project financial performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong construction industry experience to join a dynamic and collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Manage AIA billing, progress billings, change orders, retainage, and subcontractor payments.
• Monitor project budgets, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Review account reconciliations and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax preparation with external CPA firms.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and construction contract requirements.
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations leadership to provide financial insights on active projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of accounting management experience within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including:
• Job Costing
• WIP Reporting
• Percentage of Completion Accounting
• Change Orders
• Retainage
• Construction Contracts
• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with construction ERP systems such as Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Vista by Viewpoint, CMiC, Procore, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• CPA designation is a plus but not required.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting commercial, multifamily, or mixed-use construction projects.
• Knowledge of subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, insurance certificates, and certified payroll.
• Experience implementing process improvements and strengthening internal controls.
