VP, Controller
Well-established, privately held real estate development firm with an active portfolio spanning multiple asset classes and project types is seeking a VP, Controller to join the team. The organization is in a growth phase, well-capitalized, and looking to build out its finance and accounting infrastructure s is a senior leadership position working closely with C-level executives and key stakeholders. The person in this role will have real influence over how the function is run.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the accounting and financial reporting function across all development projects and private investment entities.
- Produce timely, accurate financial statements at both the project level and on a consolidated basis.
- Direct cash management, treasury operations, and cash flow forecasting across multiple entities and capital structures.
- Maintain chart of accounts and general ledger integrity across all legal entities.
- Prepare and present financial performance reports and variance analyses for executive leadership and capital partners.
- Manage job cost accounting, project budgets, and draw schedules across active development projects.
- Oversee construction loan draws, lender reporting packages, and covenant compliance with institutional debt.
- Coordinate with lenders, equity partners, and capital investors on capital calls, waterfall calculations, and investor reporting.
- Ensure accurate percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition in line with applicable standards.
- Handle developer fee calculations, carried interest tracking, and promote structure accounting.
- Act as the primary liaison with external tax counsel for all federal and state filings, including partnership K-1 preparation and distributions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required;
Master's degree preferred. - CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with meaningful exposure to real estate development and construction.
- Demonstrated experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
- Deep understanding of job cost accounting, construction draw management, and lender reporting.
- Hands-on experience with partnership accounting, multi-entity structures, and K-1 coordination with external tax professionals.
