Real Estate Development Accountant

We are seeking an Accountant with real estate development experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with Yardi Voyager, construction draw processing, project accounting, and financial statement preparation.

This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project teams, managing lender draws, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for multiple development entities.

• Manage the full accounting cycle for multiple real estate development and construction projects.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and perform monthly account reconciliations.
• Process and manage construction draws, including:
• Reviewing and verifying contractor pay applications.
• Preparing lender draw packages.
• Tracking construction budgets and funding sources.
• Monitoring retainage and lien waivers.
• Coordinating with lenders, contractors, and project managers.
• Record construction costs, capital expenditures, and development-related transactions.
• Prepare and analyze project cost reports, job cost schedules, and budget-to-actual variance reports.
• Manage accounts payable related to construction and development activities.
• Coordinate audits and provide supporting documentation to external auditors.
• Reconcile intercompany loans and transactions between related entities, ensuring accurate balances and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Prepare work papers for tax accountants and assist with year-end reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with lender requirements, partnership agreements, and company policies.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate development, construction, or a related industry.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager or a comparable real estate accounting system.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting and job cost accounting.
• Experience with construction draws and lender funding processes.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
• Experience with account reconciliations, month-end close, and budget analysis.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with multifamily, mixed-use, or condominium real estate development.
• Experience working with multiple entities, partnerships, and joint ventures.
• Knowledge of construction loan administration and project financing structures.
