Legal Assistant II – Treatment Courts:
Veterans Court, Felony Mental Health Court, Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, Baker Acts and Drug Court
Location: 1390 Northwest 14 th Avenue
Miami, FL 33136
The Legal Assistant II in Treatment Courts provides support to the Assistant State Attorneys in Drug Court, Misdemeanor Mental Health and Veterans Court. This position also provides secretarial coverage for the following three (3) divisions;
Felony Mental Health, Baker Acts and Incompetent to Proceed as well as the Human Trafficking Unit. The work schedule for this position is 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Job Responsibilities are:
- Completing requests for Assistant State Attorneys
- Processing incoming mail and outgoing mail
- Performing phone work and having contact with the public and law enforcement personnel
- Preparing daily court, supplemental and arrest warrant calendars for Assistant State Attorneys
- Processing court calendar returns
- Maintaining attorneys’ schedules and coordinating meetings
- Maintaining the Drug Court & Misdemeanor Mental Health spreadsheet on a daily basis
- Acting as a backup when necessary to the unit secretary and serving as primary contact for all six divisions
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements are:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- One (1) year of general clerical/secretarial experience
Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:
- Possessing working knowledge of community resources
- Possessing working knowledge of HYDRA, CJIS and E-Notify programs
- Possessing one (1) year of Legal Assistant experience
The Successful Candidate must be able to:
- Possess a significant knowledge of computer programs
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Possess and demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Work independently and in a group/team environment
- Work effectively with all levels of staff and outside agencies
- Be a self-starter
- Be very detailed-orientated
- Be adaptable to change
- Be personable and positive, demonstrating compassion and providing excellent customer service to all levels of staff and the public
