Our client is a growing and mission-driven affordable housing organization dedicated to maintaining high compliance standards across HUD and LIHTC-regulated communities. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Compliance Specialist to join their team.

$50k - $62k Annually

Position Overview

The Compliance Specialist will support regulatory compliance efforts across affordable housing communities. This role offers hands‑on exposure to HUD programs, LIHTC regulations, and RAD requirements. The Compliance Specialist will assist with tenant file reviews, certification processing, documentation verification, and subsidy voucher support while working closely with onsite teams and senior compliance staff to ensure full regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities
  • The Compliance Specialist will assist with processing resident move‑ins, interim changes, and annual recertifications in accordance with HUD Handbook 4350.3 and LIHTC Section 42 guidelines.
  • Collect, review, and organize tenant income, asset, and household documentation to verify eligibility and completeness.
  • Prepare and maintain tenant certification files for HUD, LIHTC, and RAD units, ensuring audit readiness.
  • The Compliance Specialist will support monthly Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) voucher processing, including TRACS data entry and documentation review.
  • Assist in preparation for compliance audits and inspections, including MORs, REAC inspections, RAD program reviews, and state agency LIHTC audits.
  • Communicate with property/site teams to resolve file discrepancies and obtain missing documentation.
  • The Compliance Specialist will maintain compliance tracking logs and organized filing systems.
  • Provide administrative and compliance support to senior compliance leadership as needed.
Required Experience/Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic understanding of HUD housing programs and regulations (e.g., Section
    8).
Preferred Experience /Skills
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in property management, leasing, or affordable housing (preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with LIHTC compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with RAD program processes.
  • Experience reviewing tenant income documentation or managing resident files.
  • Experience with property management platforms (Yardi, Real Page, One Site) and/or HUD compliance systems (TRACS, EIV).
  • Affordable housing coursework or certifications in progress (COS, HCCP, or similar credentials).
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional coursework or certifications in affordable housing compliance are preferred.
