This internal advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Region II Community Correction Alachua.

The Administrative Assistant III position at the Florida Department of Corrections provides exceptional administrative support to the Regional Director and our department, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our office. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, organization, and communication.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Serve as personal assistant and liaison to the Regional Director, performing complex secretarial, administrative, and managerial duties while maintaining positive organizational relationships and protocol.
  • Manage office communications by preparing correspondence, handling mail and calls, and keeping staff informed of procedures, quality, and concerns from the Regional Director and Department Secretary.
  • Maintain efficient office operations through comprehensive file management, use of office automation tools, and coordination of appointments, travel, and conference space.
  • Support departmental functions by researching and preparing reports, assisting with ACA audits, and informing staff on procedures, programs, and policies through various communication methods.
  • Provide additional support by assisting with HR processes, equipment inventory, property liaison duties, routing paperwork, and helping the Region 2 Helpdesk with operational issues and staff training.

  • Recently Retired? REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of clerical or criminal justice program experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Vocational/technical training in law enforcement, data processing, or secretarial science.
  • College coursework from an accredited Institution can substitute for the required experience at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for each year of the required experience.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
