Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

The Sr. Specialist, Procurement – Strategic Supply is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure reliable supply of goods and services required for safe and efficient mining operations. This role supports cost control, supplier performance, and risk management across key procurement categories. The position works closely with operations, engineering, finance, ESG, and health and safety teams to identify sourcing opportunities, evaluate suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, and monitor supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery, and compliance expectations.

• Category Ownership:
  Manage assigned spend categories (equipment, consumables, maintenance services, logistics, ICT, ESG related services). Align sourcing strategies with production plans and cost reduction objectives.
• Market & Price Intelligence:
  Track global copper mining supply trends, commodity price movements, geopolitical risks, and emerging technologies. Produce regular market briefings for leadership.

  Qualification:
  
  Research potential suppliers, conduct due diligence (financial health, ESG performance, HSE records), and keep the approved vendor list current in the ERP system.
• RFI / RFP / RFQ Management:
  Draft, issue, and evaluate requests for information, proposals, and quotations. Lead cross functional evaluation panels and score responses on technical, commercial, ESG, and risk criteria.
• Negotiation & Award:
  Lead price and commercial term negotiations, secure internal approvals per the authority matrix, and issue purchase orders or contracts.
