Job Description & How to Apply Below

The MAST (Maritime Asset Strategy & Transformation) Portfolio Lead (Project Portfolio) is responsible for the day‑to‑day management and coordination of the MAST project portfolio, ensuring accurate, timely, and decision‑ready information across all initiatives.

The role acts as a central point of coordination between delivery teams and leadership, owning portfolio artefacts, facilitating key forums, and ensuring the right level of detail, insight, and challenge is applied to support successful delivery. This role blends portfolio governance, reporting, facilitation, and delivery enablement to drive clarity, alignment, and momentum across the program.

Essential Functions
  • Portfolio Management & Control: Maintain an accurate, end‑to‑end view of the project portfolio (plans, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies), own and manage portfolio artefacts including roadmaps, dashboards, RAID logs, and integrated plans, and ensure consistency and quality of data across all initiatives.
  • Reporting & Insights: Produce clear, concise, decision‑ready reporting for leadership forums, identify and communicate portfolio trends, risks, and delivery concerns, and translate complex project information into meaningful insights.
  • Facilitation & Engagement: Facilitate portfolio and project forums, ensuring discussions are focused and outcome‑driven, drive alignment, clarity, and follow‑through across delivery teams, and draw out the right level of detail from stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with project managers, delivery leads, and senior stakeholders, build strong working relationships across the portfolio, and provide constructive challenge and support to ensure delivery confidence.
  • Governance & Decision Support: Support governance forums with materials, insight, and recommendations; track decisions, actions, and changes to ensure follow‑through; enable prioritisation and trade‑off discussions.
  • Dependency &

    Risk Management:

Identify and manage cross‑project dependencies and interlocks, surface risks early and support mitigation planning, and ensure transparency of delivery risks across the portfolio.
  • Portfolio Planning & Coordination: Support development and maintenance of integrated portfolio plans, align timelines, sequencing, and deliverables across initiatives, and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve portfolio reporting, artefacts, and processes, and reduce complexity and drive pragmatic ways of working.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Support strategic initiatives, workshops, and deep dives as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Scope: Supports a portfolio of projects across MAST, providing coordination, visibility, and project governance to ensure initiatives are aligned, controlled, and effectively delivered.
  • Problem‑solving: Identifies inconsistencies, risks, and gaps in portfolio information and delivery plans, working with stakeholders to resolve issues, improve clarity, and drive better outcomes across the portfolio.
  • Impact: Directly impacts the quality of decision‑making, delivery confidence, and successful coordination of initiatives, enabling leadership to manage priorities, risks, and outcomes effectively.
  • Leadership: Leads through facilitation, coordination, and influence rather than direct authority; acts as a central enabler of collaboration, alignment, and delivery success across project teams.
For All Roles
  • Knowledge: Understanding of workplace policies and procedures; familiarity with team collaboration tools and techniques.
  • Skills: Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Abilities: Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance, be punctual and meet deadlines, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions and tasks.

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Project/portfolio management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) beneficial.
