Overview
Successful Seasonal Camp Counselor candidates will lead and coordinate groups in the City’s youth summer camp program. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating group activities including active games, arts and crafts, special events and more. Camp Counselors are responsible for the supervision and safety of campers on-site and on field trips, encouraging group participation and relationship building and promoting positive behavior and development for an enjoyable summer camp experience.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate groups in the City’s youth summer camp program.
- Plan and facilitate group activities, including active games, arts and crafts, special events, and additional activities.
- Ensure supervision and safety of campers on-site and during field trips.
- Encourage group participation, relationship building, and positive behavior to promote a positive camp experience.
- Camp counselor training begins May 4; summer camp runs from June 1 through August 7.
- Candidates must work all scheduled weeks of Summer Camp.
- Shifts vary between 6:45 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.; positions available for up to 40 hours per week depending on program needs.
- On-Call Seasonal Workers are temporary employees; work ceases when assigned work is completed. Additional assignments may include special events, Kid's Night Out, Winter/Spring Break Camp, etc.
- A temporary position with a complete background investigation including fingerprinting and a drug screen will be conducted. Onsite fingerprinting and drug testing will be conducted at the Seminole Recreation Center on April 9.
- Position closing date:
Open until filled. - Salary range: $16.00 per hour, or $16.25 for returning Camp Counselors.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and hold a Florida driver’s license. CPR and First Aid training are provided.
- Standards for professional appearance: employees should look clean, neat, well-groomed, and dressed safely and appropriately for the work they will be doing.
- Guidelines include neat clothing, good personal hygiene, and safety-conscious appearance.
- Visible body adornments and tattoos are subject to safety and professional standards; tattoos should be non-visible above collar level, with specific allowances and prohibitions described in policy.
- Visible piercings should be limited; other restrictions may apply based on position and safety considerations.
