Job PurposeThe Project Engineer (PE) is a liaison between the project’s field and corporate office. This role supports the Project Management and Superintendent team by coordinating, tracking and completing a wide variety of tasks to meet the technical requirements of the project.
Duties And Responsibilities- Specific job duties include, but are not limited to, the preparation, review, tracking and distribution of project documents and tasks:
- Requests for Information (RFI’s) – Prepare, track, update and distribute project RFI’s using Procore;
Tag RFI’s to drawings in Procore;
File RFI’s accordance with uniform filing structure - Weekly Subcontractor Meeting – Obtain 4-Week look ahead schedule from Lead Superintendent and prepare meeting agenda and meeting minutes;
Provide updated Plan Log with Revisions and RFI log;
Obtain weekly safety topic from Lead Superintendent - MSDS – Obtain and save all MSDS documents in the project file folders in accordance with the uniform filing structure;
Ensure MSDS binder is easily accessible and up to date - Daily Reports – Ensure Subcontractors submit Daily Reports in Procore with manpower, description of work performed, delays and responsible party
- Submittals – Review, process and track all project submittals in Procore;
Verify materials delivered to site match approved submittals and communicate discrepancies;
File submittals per uniform filing structure for project closeout - Permits – Maintain Permit Log(s) and ensure permits are saved in project files;
Track pending and upcoming permits prior to expiration - Plans & Revisions – Upload, update and maintain project plans and revisions in Procore; coordinate with Development to identify pages that must be resubmitted to the city; manage plan documents in hard copy and electronic formats
- Safety – Assist Superintendent with daily safety walks; identify issues and report to subcontractor foreman and superintendent; document offenses; prepare Safety Binder and distribute Safety Topic of the Week; assist with jobsite incident tracking and reporting
- Inspections – Assist Superintendents with daily on-site safety inspections and material audits; create and maintain inspection logs
- Schedules – Assist Superintendent with schedule updates and ensure updated projected and actual schedules are available before weekly meetings
- Meeting Minutes – Coordinate, schedule and participate in team and project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Project Closeout – Request, track and prepare project closeout documents for electronic transfer (subcontractor/consultant contacts, submittals, as-built drawings, warranty letters)
- Other – Communicate with all subcontractors, manage tasks across multiple work groups, and travel as required for projects
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to adjust quickly as priorities change; preferred working experience in construction management
- Basic knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
- Basic knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Understanding of facets of the construction process
- Familiarity with MS Word and Construction Management applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Procore, Primavera)
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- AS or BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field preferred or equivalent experience in construction management
