Chief Estimator - Miami

About the Opportunity

A well established, Miami based general contractor specializing in self performing municipal/commercial construction is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead all estimating and preconstruction operations while growing the teams functions.

This is a highly impactful leadership role responsible for pricing strategy, risk management, GMP development, and final bid approvals across hard bid, CMAR, design build, and negotiated projects. The Chief Estimator will manage the Estimating Department and serve as a key advisor to Ownership and the President on pursuit strategy and final budget recommendations.

• Lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts from hard bids/conceptual budgeting through final submission.
• Establish and maintain estimating standards, templates, historical cost databases, and benchmarking processes.
• Define pricing and bid strategies including fee structure, contingency, escalation, allowances, and general conditions.
• Provide recommendations on staffing plans, and pursuit prioritization.
• Ensure full compliance with municipal bid requirements including forms, bonds, addenda control, and scope completeness.
• Direct subcontractor outreach, prequalification, leveling, and market coverage strategies.
• Oversee progressive and conceptual estimating, value engineering, and target value design efforts.
• Identify and manage estimating risks, maintain contingency rationale, and document assumptions.
• Review and approve final GMPs, scope narratives, proposals, and clarifications prior to submission.

• 10+ years of estimating experience with 3–5+ years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong network within the South Florida subcontractor market and current pricing awareness.
• Experience with municipal/public procurement and private negotiated work.
• Deep knowledge of conceptual budgeting, cost modeling, quantity take-offs, and logistics planning.
• Strong understanding of construction means & methods, scheduling integration, and buyout strategy.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in estimating tools (Bluebeam, OST, Pro Est or similar).
• Familiarity with Building Connected, Compass, Monday, P6, BIM, or related platforms preferred.
