Project Manager – Substation Construction
Location: North-Central Florida (REMOTE)

Jobsite lead and project manager – Substation infrastructure
We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of medium to high voltage construction projects for infrastructure utilities such as Substations, Water Treatment Plants, Trash burners, Bleaching plants, Substation, switch gear, generators, high voltage switchyards, etc. This includes managing all aspects of the project, including scope, timeline, budget, procurement, and client relations.
The Project Manager will be expected to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
As a key player in the construction and commissioning of electrical equipment installations, you will also oversee key construction disciplines, including foundation work, underground excavation, material handling, testing, LOTO, cut‑over plans, and material estimating and procurement.
Additionally, you will act as the primary customer service representative, ensuring clear communication and fostering strong relationships with utility clients.
Successful candidates will demonstrate respect for everyone. Note that a PMP is not required, but highly preferred.
Responsibilities- Project Planning & Management:
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, work plans, and resource allocations to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Lead and coordinate project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to track progress and resolve issues impacting timelines, scope, or deliverables.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date project documentation
, including but not limited to project plans, contracts, change orders,
RFIs, submittals
, and meeting minutes. - Oversee construction activities across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with procurement and design teams to ensure timely availability of materials and alignment with project goals.
- Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate progress, quality, and safety performance, and provide feedback or direction as necessary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other key project stakeholders.
- Provide regular project status reports to senior leadership, including updates on budget, schedule, risks, and key milestones.
- Procurement & Material Management:
- Actively participate in procurement for all necessary materials and equipment, including working with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure materials and submittals meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements
. – this is a big part of the job. - Manage inventory and material budgets, track project costs, and identify procurement‑related risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for utility clients, ensuring clear communication and high customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and deliver regular project updates to stakeholders, including progress reports, budget status, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with clients to define project goals and scope changes and address any client concerns or needs.
- Construction Management:
- Managing progress of all construction phases, ensuring all work meets customer expectations.
- Coordinate with field teams and subcontractors to ensure all tasks are completed per the project timeline.
- Monitor work progress, assist in mediating any challenges on‑site, and ensure adherence to customer utility standards.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Monitor project progress and generate regular reports on status, risks, and any issues affecting the project.
- Participate as a team member to facilitate compliance with all safety regulations, permitting, and environmental standards.
