Construction Estimator in Miami

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our Preconstruction Department
, specializing in both commercial projects and high-end luxury custom homes
. This role is critical in developing accurate, strategic, and competitive cost estimates from early conceptual design through final bidding.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of commercial construction systems as well as the level of detail, craftsmanship, and finishes required for luxury residential projects
. This individual must be both analytical and detail-driven, with the ability to navigate complex scopes and collaborate closely with clients, architects, and internal teams.

• Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates for commercial developments and luxury custom residential projects
• Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs and pricing across all trades, including high-end finishes and specialty items
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and design documents at all stages (conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents)
• Solicit, level, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-quality subcontractors and specialty vendors
• Identify cost risks, scope gaps, and opportunities for value engineering without compromising design intent or quality
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, designers, and clients during the preconstruction phase
• Lead estimates independently from concept through GMP/bid
• Participate in scope reviews, clarifications, and contract negotiations
• Maintain and update cost databases, including pricing for premium materials and custom elements
• Support project handoff to operations teams with clear and accurate estimate documentation
• Support procurement strategy and scope packaging
• Assist in leveling and transitioning trade awards to operations

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor (experience in both commercial and luxury residential strongly )
• Proven experience estimating high-end custom homes and/or commercial projects
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems across both sectors
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g.,
  Bluebeam, Procore, On-screen Takeoff, Plan swift or similar
  )
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
