Overview

We are seeking a highly-motivated mid‑to‑senior level Roof Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary consulting team. The role involves field observations, roof assessments, causation determinations, non‑destructive testing, and material investigations for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Document as-built conditions and damage to roofing systems and components resulting from natural events (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) and human‑induced origins such as design and construction errors/omissions.
  • Investigate roof failures and identify causation.
  • Diagnose roofing system and assembly conditions and develop scopes of repair.
  • Develop roof repair/replacement cost estimates (desirable).
  • Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors to address construction issues and provide detailed reports.
  • Manage multiple project assignments, executing them on time and within budget.
  • Retain and develop client relationships.
  • Travel as needed on short notice.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in roofing for new and existing structures, including investigation, design, testing, and/or installation.
  • Understanding of building systems and various roofing systems for commercial, industrial, single‑ and multi‑family, high‑rise buildings and structures.
  • Knowledge of roofing details such as flashing, interfaces with adjacent building systems, and roofing systems.
  • Experience with low‑slope roofs (BUR, metal panel, polymer‑modified bitumen, thermoplastic/thermoset single‑ply membranes, spray polyurethane foam‑based systems).
  • Experience with steep‑sloped roofs (asphalt shingles, clay and concrete tile, metal panel and tile, slate, wood shakes, synthetic roofs).
  • Experience in roof testing: infrared, nuclear, or electrical capacitance surveys; core sampling; ASTM procedures; gravimetric analysis.
  • Experience utilizing third‑party laboratories for analysis of roof samples for system and assembly failure determination (desirable).
  • Membership with IIBEC or RCI, Inc. and/or Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) or Registered Roof Observer (RRO) status preferred.
  • Knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices for roofing systems.
  • Knowledge of standard construction practices.
  • Field experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience providing litigation support, including expert testimony at depositions, trials, mediation or arbitration (plus).
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $90k – $150k, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a generous 401(k) match, ESOP participation, medical, dental, vision, and paid vacation.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and have a good driving record.
