Construction Administration Professional
Studio Mc+G is seeking an experienced Construction Administration professional to join our architectural team and lead oversight of projects during construction. This role is ideal for a seasoned architect or CA focused individual who is confident in the field, detail-oriented, and capable of representing design intent while coordinating effectively with owners, consultants, and contractors. You will serve as a key point of contact during the construction phase, ensuring projects are built accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with the construction documents, design intent, and applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead Construction Administration services from permit issuance through project closeout
- Conduct regular site visits to review progress, quality, and conformance with construction documents
- Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and material samples in a timely and accurate manner
- Coordinate with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, landscape, etc.) to resolve field conditions and provide design clarifications
- Issue Architect’s Supplemental Instructions, field reports, and design clarifications as needed
- Attend OAC meetings and clearly represent design intent and project requirements
- Track construction progress, identify deviations, and proactively resolve issues before they impact schedule or budget
- Review contractor pay applications for progress validation when required
- Maintain thorough project documentation, field reports, and correspondence logs
- Support project teams during punch list, substantial completion, and closeout phases
- Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning requirements, and permit conditions throughout construction
- Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) required
- 10
-15+ years of experience with a strong focus on Construction Administration - Proven experience managing CA for mid-rise and high-rise residential, mixed-use, residential and commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, detailing, and materials
- Ability to interpret and enforce construction documents in the field
- Proficiency with Revit, CAD, Bluebeam, and standard project management/document control tools
- Excellent communication skills with contractors, consultants, and clients
- Strong problem-solving ability and confidence in field decision-making
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in various stages of construction
Skills:
- Experience in fast-paced architectural studios or design-driven firms
- Familiarity with municipal permitting processes
- Strong understanding of façade systems, waterproofing, and envelope detailing
- Experience with high-end residential or complex commercial projects
- Ability to mentor junior staff in CA procedures and field observation practices
