CBS Miami is looking for a dynamic, passionate, and experienced meteorologist to join our NEXT Weather team. South Florida is a meteorologist’s dream market – sunny days, stormy summers, busy hurricane seasons, and clear winter days. This person will be responsible for delivering accurate, engaging weather in a conversational manner. You must have a passion for severe weather and telling the lifestyle weather story on a picture-perfect day.

The ideal candidate will also report live on severe weather, climate change and other weather-related content. We want someone who will have great chemistry with our award‑winning team and become an engaged part of our community. The meteorologist must have a strong understanding and engagement on digital and social media platforms.

• Create local forecasts in alignment with the NEXT Weather brand for CBS News Miami.
• Contribute to the NEXT Weather team coverage, both in studio and in the field whenever conditions require.
• Prepare forecasts and produce graphics to tell the weather story across multiple platforms.
• Report on the impact of climate change across South Florida.
• Work closely with news management, producers, anchors and the digital team to execute CBS News and Stations’ weather strategy.
• Get our viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts.
• Must be able to successfully sustain continuous coverage of severe weather events.
• Participate in community outreach programs.

• Must have 5-7 years of experience.
• Experience with tropical weather preferred.
• Proficient in weather graphics production.
• B.S. Degree in Meteorology or Earth Sciences.
• Ability to use augmented reality in weather segments is a bonus.
• Proven on‑air experience in handling breaking news and severe weather coverage.
• Ability to live field report and write stories for air.
• AMS and NWS seals are strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational, time management and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated and able to work well with a team of other meteorologists in a fast‑paced deadline‑driven environment.
