The Staff Writer in the Executive Communications team assists the Director of Communications and the President's speechwriter in crafting and delivering compelling written content that resonates with a wide range of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community supporters. This position requires a creative, detail-oriented writer who understands the importance of tone, voice, and accuracy.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and produce an array of content in both English and Spanish, such as talking points, remarks, internal memos, and various communications for executives and the university community.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Communications and President's speechwriter to understand the specific needs for each assignment.
- Conduct research to ensure accuracy and relevancy of the content.
- Work with tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
- Revise and edit drafts based on feedback from leaders and other stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining the executive communication team's calendar and managing workflow.
- Perform other related duties as required or as directed; the omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Departmental RequirementsSubmission of a professional portfolio or relevant work samples is required upon application.
Desired Qualifications- Experience in a university setting or understanding of higher education landscape.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
- Spanish writing skills preferred.
- Ability to adapt writing style to suit different audiences and media.
