summary:the primary responsibility of a camp photographer is to capture and document the daily experiences, activities, and special moments within the camp setting. Through your lens, you play a crucial role in preserving memories and creating a visual record of the campers' experiences. Your work contributes to promotional materials, provides parents with insights into their children's adventures, and enhances the overall camp experience.
Work is generally june – august, monday – friday as directed by the summer camp schedule each year. Look below for some specific responsibilities and expectations of this position:essential duties and responsibilities:ensures campers and staff are safe and protected while participating in each activity.capture high-quality, candid, and posed photographs and videos of campers, staff, and activities throughout the camp day.document
special events, field trips, and memorable moments to create a comprehensive visual narrative of the camp experience.organize and maintain a digital library of photos and videos, ensuring easy accessibility for marketing, promotional, and archival purposes.work closely with camp staff and leadership to understand key events, themes, and activities to be captured.edit and enhance photographs and videos using image editing software to ensure high-quality results.perform
pre-camp responsibilities including creating a shot list of camp groups, ordering supplies, and any necessary pre-camp set-up.take creative direction and constructive criticism based on the needs of the jcc and the marketing team.demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served, interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations, appropriately model behavior, and use positive behavior-management techniques - enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.continually
document the camp shalom experience by creating visual content, such as social media posts, weekly slide shows, and end-of-summer slideshow.understand all photos are owned by the mandel jcc and not for personal use.maintains a list of campers who are not eligible for photography.ability to follow a schedule and ensure that all campers, unless noted, are in photos.all other duties as assigned.position
relationships:the position requires occasional internal interaction with employees, parents, supervisors, officers, board members, and other agency personnel and community members. You would be responsible for maintaining positive, courteous, and professional relationships with families and children enrolled in the youth and camp programs, all jcc staff, professional staff from other related agencies, and the greater community.position requirements:a love for working with children and having fun!previous
youth group or camp experience is a plus.ability to speak fluent english, understand it as well as read and write.proficient in photography techniques, equipment, and basic editing software.ability to photo edit quickly and thoroughly with extreme attention to detail.special requirements and physical demands:tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 75 lbs.),
bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and sitting.must possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.must have visual and auditory ability to keep track of multiple campers and to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to camp activities.effective and clear communication is essential between campers and staff.ability to complete written paperwork…
