Summary
The adjunct dance professor teaches undergraduate courses in dance technique, choreography, and/or dance theory, fostering technical growth, artistic expression, and critical thinking in a diverse student population. Responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging curriculum, assessing student performance, and the ability to work within the Canvas platform. The position requires an MA or MFA degree with professional experience in dance, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and the ability to contribute to a collaborative, creative academic environment.
CourseDescriptions
- DAN-110 Jazz Dance – Beginning jazz dance with exploration of disco jazz, classic jazz, and character jazz dance. (Insert days/times on schedule here)
- DAN-210 Jazz Dance – Intermediate jazz dance with exploration of disco jazz, classic jazz, and character jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN-110. (Insert days/times on schedule here)
- DAN-310 Jazz Dance – Intermediate/Advanced jazz dance with advanced exploration of disco jazz, classic jazz, and character jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN-210. Repeatable course. (Insert days/times on schedule here)
- Deliver classroom material in a clear and effective manner
- Face-to-face teaching
- Create a unified, comprehensive syllabus for each course using the supplied College of Arts and Sciences Syllabus template
- Create, administer, and evaluate exams, papers, and/or projects
- One office hour per week is required to help and address student questions and/or issues
- A Master's degree in Dance is required
- 1-3 years of relevant experience are required
- Must have efficient communication skills
- Must have the ability to deliver classroom material (lecture, discussion, small group study, etc.) in a clear and effective manner
