Job Overview

Borinquen Medical Centers is based in Miami, FL, and is seeking to hire a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team. The dental assistant assists the dentist and hygienist with a variety of dental services and examinations. You will possess specialized skills in understanding dental services and procedures as well as medical communication.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Works chair side as dentists examine and treat patients.
  • Prepares and arranges needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures.
  • Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.
  • Hands instruments and materials to dentists and keeps patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
  • Sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral healthcare.
  • Prepares materials for impressions and restorations, takes dental x‑rays, and processes x‑ray film as directed by a dentist.
  • Maintains dental supplies inventory, and orders and receives dental supplies.
  • Performs a variety of office management tasks.
  • Schedules dental appointments according to template.
  • Ensures all payments are taken and pre‑authorization is checked before any procedure is rendered.
  • Maintains an organized, clean, efficient, and confidential work area.
  • Supports staff in assigned project‑based work.
  • Uses Farm, Dentrix, Athena, or Outlook.
Requirements
  • Dental Assistant Technical Education from an accredited program.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • X‑ray certification.
  • CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of office policies and procedures; knowledge of safety procedures and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Basic computer skills.
