Job OverviewBorinquen Medical Centers is based in Miami, FL, and is seeking to hire a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team. The dental assistant assists the dentist and hygienist with a variety of dental services and examinations. You will possess specialized skills in understanding dental services and procedures as well as medical communication.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Works chair side as dentists examine and treat patients.
- Prepares and arranges needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures.
- Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.
- Hands instruments and materials to dentists and keeps patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral healthcare.
- Prepares materials for impressions and restorations, takes dental x‑rays, and processes x‑ray film as directed by a dentist.
- Maintains dental supplies inventory, and orders and receives dental supplies.
- Performs a variety of office management tasks.
- Schedules dental appointments according to template.
- Ensures all payments are taken and pre‑authorization is checked before any procedure is rendered.
- Maintains an organized, clean, efficient, and confidential work area.
- Supports staff in assigned project‑based work.
- Uses Farm, Dentrix, Athena, or Outlook.
- Dental Assistant Technical Education from an accredited program.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
- X‑ray certification.
- CPR certification.
- Knowledge of office policies and procedures; knowledge of safety procedures and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Medical, dental, vision, short‑term disability.
