Overview
We are seeking a Deputy Studio Lead to join our growing team in Miami, FL to assist with the expansive growth of our office and work with our studio lead in studio project & client management. We are seeking an individual who under limited supervision applies technical proficiency to solutions for architectural problems and the coordination of related project activities while professionally interacting with clients.
The successful candidate will be able to work with all levels of staff within the firm and will take initiative to develop research and design and implement projects from start to finish. This position requires studio staff management. The position actively engages with Business Development and presentation efforts in securing and advancing new projects. This is a rapid growth & leadership opportunity.
Your role
* Provide strategic architectural leadership, aligning technical direction, team performance, and operations with firmwide goals and long-term growth in partnership with the Studio Director.
* Lead staffing, resource planning, and team development, including forecasting workload, allocating personnel, mentoring staff, supervising senior professionals, and supporting hiring and performance management.
* Drive project delivery success by ensuring proper staffing, monitoring schedules, budgets, and milestones, and proactively managing risks to maintain quality and profitability.
* Ensure technical excellence and consistency across projects, including documentation quality, code compliance, building science, and integration of sustainability principles.
* Promote operational efficiency and continuous improvement through Lean practices, lessons learned, and process enhancements that reduce rework and improve outcomes.
* Contribute to business development and external representation as a seller-doer, strengthening client relationships, supporting pursuits, and advancing the firm's presence in the industry.
* Champion innovation and collaboration, advancing emerging technologies and best practices while fostering clear communication, defined roles, and alignment across teams and disciplines.
* Serve as Technical Lead / Project Architect, translating design intent into clear, buildable solutions from programming through construction, while guiding projects across all phases to ensure design quality, constructability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to budget and schedule.
* Lead production, BIM (Revit) execution, and rigorous QA/QC of construction documents, maintaining firm standards, accuracy, coordination, and efficient digital workflows.
* Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and stakeholders, fostering collaboration, mentoring junior staff, and driving accountability and professional growth.
* Apply deep expertise in building systems, materials, codes, and regulations; interface with authorities to support approvals and ensure compliance.
* Support construction administration through site observation, proactive issue resolution, and alignment with design intent.
* Communicate effectively with clients and teams, manage multiple projects and priorities, and deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget through strong organization and problem-solving.
About you
* Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture required.
* Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience to include all phases of architectural drafting, detailing, and assisting with the coordination of consultants.
* At least 7 years of management experience involving direct client contact and full responsibility for projects. Ability to present oneself professionally to clients as well as maintain a 'seller-doer' approach. Ability to routinely interface with clients and keep client properly informed.
* The position requires working conceptual knowledge of BIM/Revit and AutoCAD.
* NCARB certificate holder.
* Candidate must hold an active Registered Architect (RA) license in at least 1 state.
* LEED AP or other sustainability certification or ability to obtain within first 6 months of hire a plus.
