The Senior Interior Designer at Bishop Design leads the creative and technical direction of projects, ensuring design excellence from concept to completion. As the primary client liaison for design-related matters, the Senior Interior Designer is responsible for producing and presenting concepts, directing project coordination, and mentoring junior and mid-level designers. With 6-8 years plus of experience, this position requires strong leadership, strategic problem-solving, and a deep understanding of design, materials, and operational requirements.

A basic knowledge of other disciplines, such as MEP and lighting, is essential to ensure seamless integration of design elements. The role also involves site coordination, technical detailing, and ensuring all projects meet the highest creative and functional standards while maintaining alignment with Bishop Design’s brand identity.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent Bishop Design as a Senior Interior Designer in all professional capacities.
  • Lead interior design projects from concept to completion, ensuring innovation, creativity, and brand alignment.
  • Develop conceptual ideas into working designs and technical details, translating design narratives into tangible outputs.
  • Research and curate design styles, concepts, and mood boards.
  • Select FF&E materials and create material sample boards.
  • Produce information for detailed drawings and technical specifications, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
  • Create hand sketches to communicate layouts and design intent effectively.
  • Understand and integrate operational needs into design solutions.
Client Engagement & Coordination
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients on design-related matters, including:
  • Leading client meetings and presentations.
  • Managing ongoing coordination throughout the project.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships, ensuring a high level of service and long-term collaboration.
Team & Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and senior design team members on project-related matters.
  • Coordinate and manage design team members, ensuring seamless project workflow.
  • Communicate design-related information effectively across all relevant team members and the Studio Manager.
  • Coordinate with industry professionals, contractors, and consultants to align design intent with project execution.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, helping them refine design concepts and technical skills.
  • Encourage innovation and knowledge-sharing within the team, ensuring continuous development and alignment with industry best practices.
Operational & Project Management Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage daily project and client design needs, ensuring timely execution.
  • Attend client and project-related meetings, both internal and external.
  • Travel as required, particularly around the USA, for client meetings, site visits, and project coordination.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to ensure design integrity and project execution alignment.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and enhance client service opportunities.
  • Communicate with suppliers to source materials, samples, and general design products.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain Bishop Design brand standards and expectations as a Senior Interior Designer.
  • Fulfil all duties necessary for the role of Senior Interior Designer, ensuring both creative and operational excellence.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related field (essential).
  • Higher qualifications or certifications in Project Management, Leadership, or related disciplines are advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a design leadership role within the interior design industry.
Skills
  • Proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and AutoCAD for technical drawings and documentation. Proficiency in Sketch Up and Illustrator is a plus.
  • Excellent design sensibility, with a keen eye for detail, materials, and spatial planning.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative design methodologies to maintain a competitive edge.
