Position: Anesthesiology Physician Role in Minneapolis

Join the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as a skilled Anesthesiologist with cardiothoracic experience and deliver high-quality care for veterans. This long-term, full-time contract offers flexible on‑call arrangements, a collaborative team environment, and exceptional earning potential.

Position:
Anesthesiologist – Cardiothoracic Experience Preferred.

Location:

Minneapolis VA Health Care System, One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417. Position Type:
Contract | Long-Term, Full-Time (Base Year + Four Option Years). Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $700,000/year;
Earning Potential:
Up to $1,100,000 annually (negotiable based on experience, call participation, and coverage scope).

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Excluding Federal Holidays). Estimated

Hours:

80 hours every two weeks. Rotating On‑Call

Schedule:

Collaboratively confirmed. Lunch Break: 30‑minute unpaid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures
  • Develop and implement anesthesia care plans with surgical teams
  • Provide pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative patient care
  • Evaluate patient histories and perform physical assessments for anesthesia protocols
  • Maintain accurate patient records following VA policies
  • Respond confidently to anesthesia-related emergencies
  • Contribute to educational programs and anesthesia practice improvements
  • Follow safety standards, infection control protocols, and federal regulations

Note:

Cardiac device implantation (pacemakers, LVADs, defibrillators) may be involved but is not the primary responsibility.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology
  • Cardiothoracic anesthesia experience preferred
  • Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state)
  • Proven clinical experience in hospital or surgical settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered care in a high-demand environment
  • Knowledge of VA policies and federal regulations desirable
