Nicklaus Children's Health System (Nicklaus Children's Hospital) and Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU Medicine) seek an inaugural Chair for the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatrician-in-Chief. Through a newly established strategic affiliation the two institutions are building the region's largest academic pediatric program, expanding pediatric education, advancing research, and enhancing care for children across South Florida and beyond.

As the administrative leader, the Chair is responsible for growth and advancement of clinical services, research, and education. Responsibilities include overseeing quality, efficiency and access to clinical care delivered; patient experience; developing faculty and trainees; strengthening collaborative departmental relations and enhancing outreach activities. Responsible for growth and advancement of the Department across FIU and Nicklaus while fostering a culture of excellence.

The Chair of Pediatrics and Pediatrician-in-Chief will serve in a dual academic and clinical leadership role that reflects the joint nature of the FIU/Nicklaus affiliation. For university academic matters, the Chair maintains a formal reporting relationship to the Dean of the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. For health system matters, the Pediatrician-in-Chief maintains a formal reporting relationship up to the President and CEO of Nicklaus Children's Health System.

For day-to-day clinical and operational matters within Nicklaus Children's, the Chair will partner closely with the Chief Physician Executive. In keeping with the integrated mission of the affiliation, the Chair will work closely with the President and CEO of Nicklaus Children's Health System, the NCPS Board, the FIU/Nicklaus Joint Steering Committee, the Chief Physician Executive, and other health system and university leaders to advance shared strategic priorities across teaching, research, and clinical care.

The Associate DIO will work closely with the Chair on pediatric GME strategy, program development, accreditation efforts, and future growth initiatives while remaining within the established graduate medical education reporting structure through the FIU Designated Institutional Official.
