Overview
The Activity Coordinator position is the heart of our summer program at Brook Hill, blending the best parts of a summer camp counselor, tour guide, and resident assistant. You will meet people from around the world and help them have a positive summer experience. The leader we’re searching for might be you!

This is a seasonal, full-time, salaried, in-person position. Coordinators lead students on guided tours of excursion sites, engage with students, lead and participate in on-campus activities, and assist with program logistics such as group check-ins and check-outs. You will work under the direct supervision of the Activity Manager. Full room and board are provided for the duration of employment. Residing on campus is a requirement of the position.

At The Brook Hill Alliance (formerly PLUS), we operate international education programs including Brook Hill Study Tours, our English language study and travel program for international high school students across North America. Our students can take English classes and explore the surrounding regions while staying at North American colleges and universities. We are dedicated to creating vibrant, inclusive, and safe opportunities for students to grow academically, culturally, and personally.
TimeCommitment
This is a high-intensity, high-fun position. You will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the sights in the location you re working in, and you will be expected to fulfill all duties to contribute to the program s success.
- Employment period ranges from 3 to 6 weeks during the summer (mid-June to early August); most coordinators work 4–6 weeks and are contracted to work during the last two weeks of July.
- Irregular and extensive working hours to meet daily demands. Night and weekend work is expected; vacation time requests during the employment period are usually not possible.
- One full day off per calendar week (Monday–Sunday for each week you work a full week) and other blocks of free time based on campus needs.
- Approximately 8 hours of paid online training before arriving at the program site.
- Regional travel is required; all work-related travel during the employment period will be provided and covered by Brook Hill.
- Residential employees are responsible for all travel costs to and from campus. If you bring a car, parking costs may not be included.

The following are expected of Activity Coordinators:
- Standard Expectations
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Brook Hill/campus policies and procedures. Tasks include:
- Interacting with groups of international high school students and their chaperones in a professional, enthusiastic, customer-service oriented manner.
- Ensuring participant safety and applying emergency preparedness and response per Brook Hill protocols.
- Communicating Brook Hill policies and procedures with clarity, empathy, and respect.
- Acting with discretion regarding participants sensitive information, incidents, and concerns.
- Assisting in duties beyond the above as assigned.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Brook Hill/campus policies and procedures. Tasks include:
- Off-Campus Activities (Excursions)
- Lead students and chaperones on engaging tours of local sights, delivering relevant information (as provided by Brook Hill).
- Lead groups on walking and bus tours with route confidence.
- Ensure student safety at all times, including in transit and at sites.
- Coordinate logistics for excursions (bus drivers, hotel check-ins, etc.).
- Play games and entertain students during excursions, especially if there is an unforeseen delay.
- Prepare for and respond to emergencies, including night duty and on-call during overnight excursions at hotels.
- On-Campus Activities
- Help organize and deliver activities for students and chaperones, including orientation, welcome activities, talent shows, and graduation ceremonies.
- Set up, lead, and tear down recreational activities (discos, game nights, movie nights, etc.).
- Organize and supervise sporting activities (field games, soccer, basketball, etc.).
- Student Engagement & Wellbeing
- Interact with students and chaperones, addressing concerns professionally and enthusiastically.
- Engage with students to help improve conversational English.
- Encourage student participation during activities.
- Eat and converse with Brook Hill participants during meals.
