Assistant/Associate Dean of Professional Development - Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine
Florida International University invites applications for an open rank appointment as Assistant/Associate Dean for Professional Development and Continuing Medical Education within the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in establishing the vision and direction for faculty professional growth and scholarly advancement across the College as it expands graduate medical education and undergraduate medical teaching.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and evaluate faculty development programs, workshops, and online resources that support teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and career progression.
- Collaborate with the Office of Professional Development and Continuing Medical Education to deliver live and virtual sessions, interactive workshops, and personalized development activities.
- Develop and sustain systems for evaluating teaching and learning environments, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards (LCME, ACGME).
- Partner with faculty and stakeholders to create programs that augment research skills, increase scholarly productivity, and meet accreditation requirements.
- Maintain data necessary for accreditation and continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes.
- Minimum Qualifications – MD or PhD degree; at least five years of experience as a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor; minimum of three years of experience in academic/educational leadership or equivalent experience.
- Desired Qualifications – Demonstrated experience in faculty development within medical education; experience with LCME and ACGME accreditation standards; excellent oral and written communication skills; proven experience working collaboratively with other departments, administrators, and university stakeholders; evidence of a commitment to mentoring and developing faculty.
