The role requires frequent travel to universities' healthcare fairs, recruitment events, and related outreach activities. Travel and recruitment responsibilities may require work after hours, beyond 5:00 p.m., and on evenings and weekends in order to accommodate event schedules and travel arrangements. The position demands a high level of professionalism and strong public-facing skills, including public speaking, presenting to groups, and engaging in purposeful conversations with prospective students interested in pursuing medical education.
The Director of Admissions reports directly to the Dean and works closely with the Admissions Coordinator to ensure a seamless, service-oriented, and compliant admissions operation.
- Develop, implement and coordinate the overall activities relating to the Admissions Office including a comprehensive recruiting plan, processing and evaluating applications, determining applicant eligibility, participating in the interview process, verifying completion of the applicants file and informing the applicant of any deficiencies.
- Coordinate all follow-up correspondence to admitted students in relation to their status, making recommendations to prospective students on admission policies, program offerings and evaluating undergraduate transcripts.
- Supervise and manage Admission Department staff in accordance with institutional rules and regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor the application flow, acceptance rate, deposits and withdrawal rate throughout the admission cycle and regularly supply statistical reports to the appropriate offices.
- Support and recommend new policies to the institution that apply to admissions and recruitment. Meet with admissions committee to continually evaluate the effectiveness of marking plan.
- Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting and operational efficiency. Meet regularly with the admission coordinator and weekly with the Dean.
- Serve as the primary BUSPM representative to the American Association of Colleges and Podiatric Medicine application service (AACPMAS). Represent the BUSPM Admissions Office as the liaison and student affairs officer for the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM); represents BUSPM at Southeastern Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (SAAHP) and at national health professions conventions.
- Participate regularly in BUSPM Admissions Committee meetings and provide applicant materials to committee members for evaluation. In conjunction with Admissions Committee, develop and execute strategic planning goals relating to admissions, including long range planning efforts and budgetary implications. Oversee printing and distribution of recruiting brochures and publications, and recruitment supplies. Involve alumni and students in the admissions interview process.
- Oversee the Admission Department budget to include all purchases, travel, printing and promotional expenses.
- Travel to and participate in recruitment events, including health fairs, information sessions, suture workshops, and classroom lectures, to promote the College and engage prospective students.
- Develop, coordinate, and manage affiliation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) in collaboration with the Dean's Office to support recruitment and institutional partnerships.
- Bachelor's degree in any field of study required. Master's degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of previous admissions experience required.
- Must be able to use professional judgement to interpret policy and procedures in accordance with the BUSPM's policies and procedures.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills interacting with a diverse group of individuals during the admissions process is required.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in use and/or learn appropriate application software relevant to the admissions process.
- Must be able to review applications and make acceptable decisions.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate clearly and concisely with a broad and diverse group of individuals. Proficiency in representing Bary University and the podiatric medicine program; experience with the use of multimedia tools; excellent written skills.
- Detailed-oriented approach to responsibilities is required.
- Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with students, faculty, staff, alumni, campus personnel and volunteers.
