Position Overview

The Part-Time Instructor provides training for students enrolled in the curriculum of the Fire Science Program (non-credit) as prescribed by Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and Florida Administrative Code (FAC).

What you will be doing

* Provides instruction and training in classroom lectures

* Prepares and distributes course outline/syllabi to students

* Identifies student requiring assistance and recommends improvements as needed

* Assists in the development and delivery of material and instructional lesson plans

* Completes all necessary and assigned paperwork in a timely manner

* Maintains academic progress and attendance rosters as assigned

* Complies and provides training for other staff members on policy and procedures

* Participates in workshops and trainings

* Serves on Campus committees as needed

* Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regional accredited institution and six (6) years' experience with the Fire Department

* Current State certification as Fire Science Instructor

* Successful completion of an approved Fire Service Course Design class

* Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures

* Possess well-developed communication skills (Verbal and Written)

* Physical ability to perform the necessary tasks associated with the training

* Ability to work in inclement weather under adverse conditions

* Ability to recognize safety hazards and take corrective actions to ensure a safe environment

* Ability to positively interact with staff, students, and faculty

* Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students

* Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments

* • Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff

Additional Requirements

The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
