The Student Access and Success Department is currently seeking a Temporary Residential Lead Summer Counselor to join their team of professionals.
Duties include- Supervise a team of adults.
- Act as a communication link between students and the UB Director/Program Manager
- Coordinate and lead weekly staff meetings.
- Create and coordinate a weekly schedule for students.
- Ensure rules and regulations are always adhered to.
- Directly responsible for students whose graders vary between 6th ' 11th grade to assist them in developing the social, emotional and academic skills necessary to ensure high school graduation and future college success.
- Create Power Points and present vary college prep workshop to students.
- Act as mentors, academic tutors, and role models
- Enforce classroom, residence hall, and program rules.
- Organize activities throughout the day.
- Supervise at all meals and most activities.
- Help move supplies from office to residence hall and back at end of summer program; could involve lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Actively work with additional counselors to implement, supervise, and support of youth in all phases of programming activities.
- Always supervise and maintain order among students.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Attend all field trips as assigned.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or related field and experience working with children and teenagers OR equivalent education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications- Applicant have experience working with low-income and/or first-generation students.
- Experience working with students within 6th ' 12th grade.
- Experience leading a team.
- Experience with conflict resolution.
- Has been a part of a pre-college program such as TRIO, CROP, AVID, etc.
Temporary
Work ScheduleHours may vary between:
- 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
- $21.00-$25.00 per hour.
