Job Summary
The Center for Children and Families (CCF) at Florida International University announces summer positions for PreK-12 regular and special education teachers. These positions support the 2026 Summer Reading Explorers program funded by The Children's Trust and provide evidence-based small‑group literacy instruction to rising kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students across Miami‑Dade County. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Education/Special Education, Psychology/Mental Health, or a related field, with experience working with children in school, after‑school, or summer settings.
Responsibilities- Provide 30- or 45‑minute small group reading instruction to approximately eight groups daily (no more than five children per group).
- Assist in student recruitment activities.
- Assess individual student progress.
- Communicate with parents and help parent engagement.
- Conduct make‑up intervention sessions as needed.
- Attend weekly team planning meetings.
- Maintain paperwork and complete data entry for activities.
- Travel daily between assigned regional sites; a valid driver’s license is required.
Summer salary of $7,000 for new tutors and $7,500 for returners. The position requires a minimum of eight hours per day, Monday through Friday. Temporary employees are not eligible for full benefit programs.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma and one year of experience in subject areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired QualificationsBachelor’s or higher degree in Education/Special Education, Psychology/Mental Health, or a related field with field experience working with children in school, after‑school, or summer settings.
Work ScheduleMonday through Friday, eight hours per day.
Advertised Salary$7,000 for the summer period.
