Job Summary

Campus Recreation is seeking experienced group fitness instructors to join our dynamic fitness team. Candidates must hold a current, nationally accredited group fitness certification and demonstrate a strong passion for motivating and supporting participants in achieving their health and wellness goals. Our group fitness program emphasizes professionalism, evidence-based practices, and a high-energy environment. Responsibilities include leading safe and engaging group fitness classes, creating class formats for different fitness levels, and providing ongoing encouragement and instruction to participants.



Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience preferred but not required, of actively leading successful dance classes in group fitness setting.

Current Group Fitness and CPR/AED certification and must maintain certification throughout employment.

Certified to lead group fitness class

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to lead welcoming, engaging, and safe group fitness classes for a large student population, including individuals of varying abilities and fitness levels.
  • Proficiency in modifying exercises and adapting programming in real-time to meet. participants' needs while supporting a safe environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills to deliver instruction, motivation, and feedback in a group setting.
  • Commitment to maintaining a consistent teaching schedule and communicating in advance regarding absences or coverage needs.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Instructors are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each session and stay for at least 10 minutes following the end of the session to allow: adequate time for preparation, set up, tear down, and engagement with participants.
  • Adhere to all university and Campus Recreation policies, procedures, and professional standards of conduct.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate exercises, stand for extended periods, and safely lift and move equipment (minimum of 45 lbs overhead).
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development and maintenance of a current, nationally recognized group fitness certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NETA, NFPA).
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a positive, student-centered fitness culture focused on wellness, belonging, and personal growth.
