The CIS will work closely with MDCPS district, ACCESS center, school, home and/or community to facilitate the implementation and administration of programs such as Title I Parent involvement and Substance Abuse Intervention and Prevention. The CIS specialist will establish effective working relationships with parents, school personnel and the staff of social services, business and civic organizations. This position's work hours will be 9am-5pm, with additional hours or weekends as needed.
This role will report to the Head of School and is a 12-month, non-instructional role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct frequent home visits as it relates to student enrollment, attendance, or family support
- Assists school-site and district/region office personnel in planning, implementing, and administering educational support programs and special projects.
- Acts as liaison between the district, ACCESS Center, school, home and community to promote educational support programs and provide an on-going channel of communication for participants, parents and the community.
- Assists in conducting parent education workshops, and promotional presentations.
- Recruits parent volunteers for parent education activities; conducts home visits as follow-up to parenting workshops or to provide individual assistance relative to home/school problem resolution.
- Identifies and assists parents or students in securing the requisites social or support services ..
- May participate in various advisory group meetings and committees.
- Solicits the participation of the local group meeting and committees.
- Solicits the participation of the local business community in identifying programs for parent involvement and substance abuse intervention and prevention.
- Maintain confidential files and records.
- Collaborate with other administrative staff to support school initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for special projects as assigned.
- Host parent workshops to help improve student outcomes
- Host staff workshops to help bridge the gap between students/families and services needed
- Coordinate and execute compliance activities related to Title I grants
- Monitor implementation of Title I ensuring alignment with regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS), and SEED Miami's Board of Directors.
- Performs related work as required or as assigned.
- Organizational and Project Management Skills:
The ability to efficiently design, implement, and manage the entire admissions process, ensuring alignment with SEED's mission and policies. - Analytical and Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficient in collecting and analyzing enrollment, demographic, and retention data to make informed decisions that enhance recruitment and retention strategies.
- Effective Communication and Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with prospective families, community partners, and internal teams, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Cultural Competency and Community Engagement: A commitment to engaging with diverse communities and expanding outreach efforts in Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties to promote SEED's mission.
- Confidentiality and Ethical Standards: The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintaining confidentiality throughout all aspects of the admissions process.
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and resolve challenges effectively, ensuring the smooth operation of the admissions process.

- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field.
- Prior experience in community service, counseling, school volunteer work or related field.
- Event planning experience.
- Demonstrated evidence of having successfully worked with diverse ethnic groups, especially in an urban environment.
- Valid driver's license
- Comfort conducting home visits throughout South Florida
