Job Summary
- Assists in preparing recruiting trips and campus tours. Assists in coordinating preseason and summer training schedules (including meals and housing). Coordinates activities for recruiting visits and works with the Compliance office to secure all admissions‑related paperwork. Assists in gathering receipts.
- Works with the Student‑Athlete Academic Center staff and coaches in monitoring the academic progress of student‑athletes through verifiable records. Maintains NCAA academic benchmarks for initial and continuing eligibility in accordance with NCAA bylaws. Monitors attendance at study hall, classes, and all mandatory meetings, events and activities. Works with student athletes to enhance their management and study skills. Prepares student athletes for team travel, including working with the SAAC to coordinate assignments due during team travel.
- Coordinates with the Athletic Department Administration and serves as a liaison for sports with various university units (housing, admissions, financial aid, etc.) on issues related to each area.
- Works closely with the Assistant Director of Student‑Athlete Development and Community Relations to ensure team community service involvement and to emphasize the value of education and the development of self‑reliance, self‑confidence, empowerment, and intrinsic motivation.
- Coordinates recruiting for coaches. Serves as liaison with parents on campus visits and provides information about academic requirements.
- Assists student‑athletes dealing with issues of transitioning from high school to college.
- Serves as liaison between the Faculty Athletic Representative and the basketball program.
- Reviews, understands and abides by all department procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding academic and personal data of student athletes and other university and athletic department matters.
- Uses the university credit card for departmental transactions and adheres to university credit card policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all applicable rules and policies of the State of Florida, university, NCAA, Conference USA and the department pertaining to the position. Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and monitors subordinate compliance with NCAA regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. Omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning logically related duties.
- Knowledge of recruiting student‑athletes, maintaining discipline, and development programs.
- Excellent teaching skills, including weight training and game skills and strategies.
- Experience at the Division I college level is a plus. Must demonstrate required sport‑specific skills.
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of related experience; or a master’s degree and two (2) years of related experience; or eight (8) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary$60,000 – $65,000
