Job Description & How to Apply Below

At SEED Miami, college access and completion are central to our mission. The College Counselor plays a vital role in guiding students and families through every stage of the college process. This includes college exposure, exploration, application, standardized testing, and ultimately, the selection of a right‑fit institution. The College Counselor must be highly knowledgeable and skilled in supporting students—particularly those who are first‑generation and from low‑income backgrounds—as they navigate the path to higher education.

This role also involves equipping families with the tools and information they need to effectively support their student’s college journey. In addition to college counseling, the College Counselor is responsible for implementing and overseeing SAT/ACT preparation to ensure students are well‑positioned for competitive college admissions. This includes coordinating test prep resources, tracking student progress, and providing individualized support as needed.

To support strong planning and continuity, the College Counselor also leads summary advising meetings during the month of July. These meetings provide students and families with a comprehensive overview of academic progress, college planning milestones, and next steps for the upcoming school year. SEED Miami takes a thoughtful, data‑informed approach to college matching. A key part of this strategy involves ensuring that the colleges our students attend are not only accessible but also committed to student success and completion.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of colleges and universities nationwide, especially those with proven outcomes in supporting first‑generation college students. The College Counselor will build strong relationships within the SEED Miami community, collaborating with staff, faculty, and leadership across departments. Additionally, this role works closely with the College Transition & Success (CTS) team at The SEED Foundation in Washington, D.C., as well as with College Counselors across the SEED network.

Together, they ensure that SEED students receive consistent, high‑quality support from high school through college completion.
