Assistant Director of Academics 9-12 supports the development and implementation of academic systems, curriculum programs, and student achievement initiatives aligned with SEED’s charter contract, state standards, and performance goals. They assist in coaching and evaluating instructional staff, managing student data systems, overseeing academic interventions, and fostering a positive peer and academic culture. They collaborate closely with the leadership team to ensure high-quality teaching, maintain compliance, and create a nurturing, college-preparatory environment for all students.
They serve as a visible leader on campus, building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while promoting SEED’s core values in all aspects of the academic program.
- Support the development and implementation of academic systems and programs aligned with SEED’s charter contract, state contract, local performance goals, and Network Success Measures.
- Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of high-quality instructional staff, ensuring alignment with SEED’s core values and compliance standards.
- Manage and coach assigned high school teaching teams to maximize instructional effectiveness, staff growth, and student achievement.
- Utilize Power School for scheduling, transcript management, and grading processes; collaborate with the Data Manager to ensure academic staff are properly trained and supported in system usage.
- Assist in the development and implementation to ensure students are on track to meet FLDOE and SEED graduation requirements.
- Support the planning, coordination, and evaluation of the 9–12 summer school program and Summer Bridge.
- Assist in curriculum development, alignment to state standards, and implementation of instructional best practices across all subjects.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Advanced Placement (AP) and dual enrollment programs in collaboration with academic leadership.
- Collaborate with the student life leadership to maintain effective Study Hall structures and after-school tutorial programs.
- Utilize student data to support flexible, targeted groupings that meet individual academic needs.
- Assist in developing and promoting a literacy-rich environment through programs such as D.E.A.R, book clubs, and Literacy initiatives.
- Foster and reinforce a positive peer culture aligned with SEED’s 24-hour boarding school model.
- Support teachers in using student achievement data to design responsive instruction aligned to state and college readiness standards.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of incoming student data (e.g., test scores, IEPs, grades) to inform academic planning.
- Promote and reinforce SEED’s academic mission, vision, and values through collaboration with the leadership team.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with teaching staff and academic leadership to review academic progress and priorities.
- Support and attend weekly academic leadership team meetings, maintaining rolling agendas and sign‑in documentation to track goals and next steps.
- Attend area leadership meetings and professional development sessions as required by the Head of School, including participation in SEED Summit.
- Plan and facilitate monthly incentive-based field trips that promote academic achievement and student engagement.
- Conduct monthly reviews and analysis of key academic data (e.g., reading levels, state assessments, grades, standards mastery) to support instructional adjustments.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the academic bell schedule, including A/B day rotations and 4x4 block models.
- Lead or co‑lead the school’s Literacy Team, facilitating monthly meetings to share data, identify best practices, and develop literacy‑focused action plans.
- Conduct formal and informal classroom observations for assigned teaching staff, providing timely feedback through Teach Boost, following required evaluation guidelines.
