Job Summary

The Director for the Master of Business & Government Leadership (MBGL) Program at FIU's Adam Smith Center for Academic Freedom (ASC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success and well-being of enrolled students. This position requires administrative, advisory, strategic planning, supervisory, and entrepreneurial skills to create the best possible experience for all stakeholders. Oversees the implementation of the overall academic and extracurricular programs for the full-time and part-time MBGL degrees and works closely with students, faculty, and staff to maintain a first-class academic curriculum and highly rated student experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic leadership, direction, and operational oversight for the Master of Business & Government Leadership (MBGL) Programs in both English and Spanish, ensuring alignment with university priorities, accreditation standards, institutional policies, and the mission of The Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom. Directs and oversees the full student lifecycle, including recruitment support, admissions, matriculation, orientation, registration, academic advising, student engagement, retention initiatives, graduation clearance, and alumni relations, to ensure an exceptional student experience and successful academic outcomes.

    Serves as the primary academic and administrative resource for MBGL students, addressing student concerns, providing guidance on degree progression and university policies, facilitating access to university resources, and ensuring high levels of student satisfaction and support.
  • Develops, implements, and continuously assesses student success and retention strategies utilizing student performance data, satisfaction surveys, degree audits, and higher education best practices to improve persistence, academic achievement, and program completion rates. Monitors student academic progress and compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements through regular degree audits and performance reviews; consults with university leadership regarding academic standing, student continuation, and intervention strategies when necessary.

    Leads and administers admissions processes for the MBGL programs, including application review, enrollment planning, admissions committee coordination, candidate evaluation, scholarship selection processes, and recruitment initiatives designed to support enrollment growth and program quality.
  • Oversees academic operations, including course scheduling, instructional assignments, faculty teaching schedules, course availability, curriculum implementation, and coordination with faculty and academic leadership to ensure effective program delivery and academic excellence. Collaborates with faculty and university leadership to support curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance academic quality, relevance, and student learning outcomes. Manages academic and student conduct matters in accordance with university policies and procedures.

    Serves as the primary point of contact for misconduct allegations and coordinates appropriate resolutions with university offices as needed.
