Hybrid - 3 days/week in the SEO office at 3401 N Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33127

This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule requiring in-person work three days a week (including required Saturdays) and virtual work two days a week. The typical weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Fall Term:
    Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month);
    Monday through Friday (1x month)
  • Spring Term:
    Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month);
    Monday through Friday (1x month)
  • Summer Term:
    Monday through Friday
  • In-person attendance is required for all Community Day programming dates
  • Two weeks of in-person attendance will be required during our College Application Bootcamp programming from mid to late July
  • Work requires local travel beyond the office for Saturday programming at the following locations (subject to change):
    Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus

Position Overview

The 10th Grade Scholars Advisor will join the founding program team of the SEO Scholars Miami expansion site. The position will partner closely with peers locally and nationally to manage the advisement and performance of a cohort of 60-70 public high school sophomores. Through group facilitation, workshops, community circles, class observations, and 1-on-1 advising, you will help Scholars develop holistically. Beyond ensuring a rigorous academic environment, you will be tasked with effectively building the academic and socio-emotional foundation to successfully navigate high school, college, and career, including but not limited to our Scholars' academic mindsets, effective study habits, awareness of identity, and SEL skills.

Program Development & Management

  • Assist in the recruitment process that meets the target application numbers and demographic goals.
  • Coordinate with supervisor and program operations personnel and implement hybrid SEO Scholars programming on Saturdays online and in-person and after school online in the fall and spring semesters, and online and in-person during the summer for five weeks.
  • On Saturdays, monitor attendance and follow up with Scholars and families regarding absences, lateness, and excused absences; lead Opening Circle (OC) with high-energy execution.
  • Monitor the performance and engagement of all Scholars in the assigned cohort; track and analyze Scholar attendance, assignment completion, assessments and grades in SEO Scholars classes, high school courses, and standardized test scores.
  • Upload and update Scholar information into Salesforce for 10th Grade Scholar caseload, such as updating official program enrollment status.
  • Help plan and facilitate community day/community time (in-person and online) throughout the year.
  • Track progress and manage qualitative and quantitative data to make evidence-based decisions to improve Scholar performance and engagement, including making recommendations and ensuring that Scholars successfully follow through with additional support and services. Engage parents, guardians, and school partners as needed to improve student performance and retention.
