Camp Director, Alpha

On-site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY;
Miami, FL; or San Francisco, CA — relocation assistance available. Full‑time position with annual compensation of $200,000.

Alpha operates on a two‑hour learning framework. Morning academic instruction is handled by adaptive software, freeing your schedule for the work that truly transforms children’s lives: cultivating motivation, developing life skills, coaching students, and maintaining accountability. You directly manage a cohort of K‑3 learners while simultaneously coaching Guides (Alpha’s mentors who inspire students) who oversee their day‑to‑day growth. You remain actively engaged each day, rather than supervising remotely.

• Use performance metrics, classroom observations, and candid feedback to coach Guides and students, and maintain accountability to quantifiable objectives for both groups.
• Lead one‑hour live workshops for K‑3 learners on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and peer feedback.
• Conduct individual and small‑group sessions focused on motivation that link each child’s interests and goals to tangible academic advancement.
• Create and iterate on playbooks that convert your most effective methods into replicable systems other Guides can implement reliably.
• Train Guides on these playbooks and demonstrate facilitation excellence to preserve standards as the team expands.

• Providing direct academic instruction or traditional lectures; adaptive software handles content delivery while you focus on coaching.
• Reducing expectations when a student encounters challenges.
• Managing remotely as instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain directly involved with your cohort each day.
• Overseeing the full campus budget, operations, and parent communications; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide results.
• Supporting traditional pedagogical approaches or adhering to a standard K‑12 curriculum.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience working with elementary‑aged children (approximately ages 5 to
  9).
• Prior experience leading a team of five or more individuals, with authority to hire and terminate based on performance results.
• Track record of building, launching, or substantially scaling a program, team, school, or initiative from inception.
• Comfortable operating in a school environment that rejects conventional teaching methods.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrated ability using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and produce measurable progress.
• Experience coaching or supervising other adults to achieve quantifiable results, beyond performing the tasks yourself.
• Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation was a primary focus.
• Proven ability facilitating or speaking publicly before groups of young children.
