The Middle School Academic Advisor for grades 6–8 plays a critical role in supporting student academic success, personal development, and college/career readiness. This position focuses on monitoring student progress, providing targeted interventions, and collaborating with staff, students, and families to ensure all students are on track for promotion and long-term achievement.
Job Requirements- Academic Monitoring & Support
- Track and analyze student academic performance, attendance, and behavior data
- Identify at-risk students and develop individualized academic support plans
- Conduct regular academic check-ins with students to set goals and monitor progress
- Support students in organization, study skills, and time management
- Student Advisement & Goal Setting
- Guide students in setting short- and long-term academic and personal goals
- Facilitate student reflection on progress, strengths, and areas for growth
- Promote a growth mindset and accountability for academic performance
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student needs
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns
- Participate in team meetings, MTSS/RTI processes, and student support initiatives
- Intervention & Program Implementation
- Coordinate and implement academic intervention programs for struggling students
- Support test preparation initiatives and monitor student readiness for state assessments
- Assist with scheduling, course selection, and academic planning for middle school students
- School Culture & Compliance
- Support school-wide initiatives that promote academic excellence and student success
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies
- Assist with school events such as parent nights, academic celebrations, and orientations
- Florida professional certificate (or eligible), Bachelor’s degree required (Education, School Counseling, or related field preferred)
